How is this possible?!

Written by jellybeansss on April 10, 2007
Ok here's my situation. I weighed last Wednesday and my scale said 169 pounds, but on my weekly weigh in Friday the scale said 174. How is it possible to gain 6 pounds in 2 days?! I've been counting calories and staying around 1000 a day. What could have possibly caused this outrageous gain?

Well, for one thing, you know that you couldn't have gained 6lbs of fat in 2 days, its just physically impossible. Its probably some water retention. Also, make sure your caloric intake isn't too low - that can trick your body into going into starvation mode. I bet you'll see your weight dip back soon. good luck!

Is the food you are eatting high in salt. That will make you gain weight also.

I was starving the other night...well two nights in a row actually..lol. Anyways, I did eat alot of pickles. The small ones that are sandwich sliced. I went and looked today and in 7 of them there are 400mg sodium. I'm not sure if that is high or not, but I do know I ate alot more than 7. In the future I know to stay away from them now. I assumed it was ok to eat them since there is only 5 cals in a serving. My weight is still at 173 though. I hope this damn scale moves soon though..lol. This is so frustrating! Thanks so much for your helpful comments!!

Females should stay at 1,200 calories MINIMUM! Any lower than that can shift your metabolism into an evil creature :0) Good luck!!!

Well that might explain the plateau then and the over night weight gain. I've just been trying to rush into getting this last 23 pounds off.
I'm going to up my cals to 1200, keep exercising, and take my scale out back and smash it!! Thanks for your great advice Danielle.
