Main Goal

My main weight loss goal is to look the best that I possibly can! The number is not as important to me as the outward appearance. If I had to put a number on it, I'd say 80 lbs. lost would be wonderful!

Michelle,
Good job on losing 14 pounds so far! Way to go! Unfortunately, I’m going the other direction. In my last comment (nearly five months ago) I said I would make a commitment to refocus on eating well, exercising, and dropping pounds and inches. As it turns out, I haven’t done any of those things. So feel free to send a little cyber kick in the butt my way to help get me going again!

Once the tax day stress is behind us (2006 was my first year of self-employment, so this has been very stressful for me!), let's make a commitment to refocus on eating well, exercising, and dropping pounds and inches. As Danielle reminded me, the two months I have until our first summer beach trip is plenty of time to make some real progress if I truly commit to doing it. No more excuses!

Hi Mcoonen, sorry I've been out of touch lately. I hope you’re doing well and making progress toward your weight loss goals. I certainly hope you’re doing better than me. I’ve been guilty of some serious stress eating the last couple of weeks. My dad, who turned 84 last week, has been in poor health since early March. I haven’t been eating right, and I’ve only been to the gym to work out once in the last two weeks. I was also involved in an Easter drama at church that took a good bit of my time. The bottom line is that I’ve been letting other things keep getting in the way of working toward my goals, and my family’s first beach trip is now just two months away. It certainly doesn’t look like I’ll be wearing a Speedo this summer!

I'm an attorney--nice low stress job. I know about the fast food joints. I have a hard time driving past Bojangles without at least stopping for a sweet tea, but I'm determined I'm going to give it up for now. I’ve never tried any other formal diets or weight-loss programs, but two years ago I lost 10 pounds in two months by just cutting out snacking and fast food and by increasing my cardio workouts. I’ve kept that weight off, but I just didn’t go far enough. I’ve decided it’s time to recommit myself and to make some meaningful progress toward getting my weight down to where it should be.

You CAN take control of your life—you just have to commit to doing it and focus on your goals.

I have an extremely busy work schedule as well, so keeping focused on the weight-loss goal will not be easy. But as fellow North Carolinians, maybe we can help motivate each other. Good for you on doing the Susan G. Koman walk—what a worthwhile (and healthy!) thing to do.
